Less than ten days after the fire on the ship Petrovaradin, a barge (thrust) owned by the company DMB Shipping overturned. The accident happened near the town of Ram, on 1076,2 km of the Danube river. The causes of the sinking or overturning have not yet been determined. Possible causes are the overloading of the facilities above the allowed level of draft or possible damage to the hull through which the barges received water. There was no crew at the facilities and no one was injured in the accident. Only material damage was done.
The barges (sailing formations) that are at the anchorage should be under twenty-four-hour supervision, and again the insufficient engagement of the crew of the mentioned company is in question.
The navigation inspection has conducted an investigation and the investigative bodies will determine the exact cause of the accident as well as possible irregularities of the employer in hiring people and equipment.
